Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

for our Parish

This is a process for initiating new adult members into the Church. It is open to those adults who have not been baptized (catechumens), and to those who have been baptized in other denominations and are now interested in becoming Catholic, as well as to those (candidates) who were baptized Catholic but did not receive the other two sacraments of initiation (Eucharist and Confirmation). While there are definite stages to the process it is always determined by the readiness of the person to move to the next stage. There are liturgical rites that accompany the movements from one stage to the next. When the stages are complete the sacraments of initiation are celebrated at the parish Easter Vigil Celebration. A period of mystagogy follows in the Easter Season during which the newly initiated experience being fully part of the faith community of the parish.

Our Lady of Grace has Inquiry Sessions each year during the month of September to provide information and answer questions for those who may be interested in the RCIA process for that year. We are blessed with a very experienced and well-informed RCIA Team to accompany those who decide join us each year in the RCIA process. Besides the liturgical rites throughout the year there is also a retreat day for those who will be receiving the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Virgil. Parishioners of Our Lady of Grace are often called upon to help as sponsors for our catechumens and candidates where needed.
